The fastest growing Japanese automaker in Canada in 2010 was.... Can you guess? Okay, a hint. It's the third year in a row that the company has been the fastest growing Japanese manufacturer in Canada.

Need another hint?

It was not Toyota. Or Honda. Or Mazda. Or Nissan. Or Mitsubishi. Or Suzuki.

So which company does that leave?

Subaru Canada, of course. Last year SCI's sales rose 20.7 per cent over 2009, totaling 27,805 units. Surging sales can be attributed to strong demand for the Outback, which broke its previous sales record (set in 2001) by more than 48 per cent.

"Subaru's exceptional sales in 2010 mark our third consecutive year of significant growth and the best year ever for the brand," said Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of SCI. "Our outstanding momentum is certainly a reflection of our very balanced product offering. More and more Canadians are recognizing the merits of our lineup of Subaru symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive vehicles. Best of all, these results were achieved without resorting to huge incentives in order to move product. Subaru's strong sales can truly be attributed to our product-oriented sales approach and the strength of our dealer network."
